Sew It Together Sydney 2011

Well!

It’s all over for another year! It’s like a baby, this Sew It Together, only more fun and it takes longer to create. And it doesn’t hurt at all. And you get to drink. A little. If you wish.

Where was I?

Yes, SIT is over for another year, but even as I type this, I am making lists of things to organise already for the next one. Whilst I don’t like my real babies too close together in age, I think I am happy churning one of these puppies out every year.

So much fun. I am all angsty today wishing that it was last Friday again. Sigh.

We had a fabulous time on the Friday Fabric Shopping trip, visiting The Remnant Warehouse, Calico & Ivy and the Prints Charming studio. I forgot to get out the camera at The Remnant Warehouse, mostly because I was either shopping or drinking tea or ogling the lovely lamingtons they laid out for us. Here’s the lovely Calico & Ivy Sydney store.

with yarn that looked so good I could have eaten it….

And here are the shopping ladies out the front….

Next stop was the Prints Charming studio…..

where I made the mistake of standing back and letting the vultures ladies pick through a big basket of scrap packs. They cleaned out the entire stock….I lost count of the number of ladies who bought 3 packs (or more)….and I am just thankful that I live somewhat close and can visit any time. Sheesh.

Always time for another quick group shot (look at all those shopping bags)….

before half the group returned to the city, and half stayed on for an awesome Stitching Session (with champagne!) with the lovely Kirsten and Cath themselves…

This was a real highlight of the weekend for lots of ladies! Thanks Cath & Kirsten for a delightful evening!

Saturday dawned bright and super early with a group of 9 of us running and walking all the way down to Mrs Macquarie’s Chair and back. I even arranged for a perfectly fine mist of early morning rain to cool us on the way back. It’s all about the details, ladies.

The Crafting Session started at 9am and the rest of the day was a blur for me! I did lots more than the 8 stitches I achieved last year (yay!) and sat in on the 60 degree triangle workshop by Kathy from Material Obsession, but that’s about it!

And then there was dinner…..

And then there was dancing and karaoke, but I have no photos and what goes out for karaoke stays out at karaoke, so we’ll leave it at that.  :-)

All in all, an absolutely fantastic weekend. Wish we could do it more often.

I still have to take photos of my swap items, and all the lovely gifts that I received, so I will come back with that as soon as I can.

Thanks to absolutely everybody for coming along and/or supporting Sew It Together in any way that you did. It’s no fun if nobody shows up, and the fact that 52 of you came from all over Australia to hang out in Sydney for the weekend was simply awesome.

A huge thank you to my super trusty sidekick, Donna. I simply could not do SIT without her. And I wouldn’t want to. We only see each other twice a year and it is such a great way to spend time together. And to my other trusty sidekicks, Renae, Kelli and Susie who made me cups of tea, told me to relax and helped out immensely with all the logistics of putting this together on the day – thank you! You rock!

Who’s in for SIT Canberra 2012?
