Party Girl

My daughter sure knows how to party.

She celebrated the start of her 12th month by throwing a 5 night, I repeat 5 night, long fever party. Clearly she needs little sleep to get through her active day, and her bedroom bears all the hallmarks of serious partying.

There are mattresses thrown on the floor for guests needing somewhere to sleep at 2am.

There are syringes clearly left in full view.

And even the drugs, if I hadn’t already had my suspicions.

There are half-drunk bottles laying around.

Battery operated devices.

And sheets and clothes covered in vomit.

{It’s okay. You’ll take my word for it, won’t you?}

——-

Diagnosis? Tonsillitis AGAIN. That’s her third bout in about 5 weeks. We’re hoping that the onset of summer, and putting the winter virus season behind us, might help, but in the meantime she has had a swab taken from her tonsils last week to try and identify exactly what we are dealing with.

I’m tired. No more tired than any other mother with young and/or sick kids. And indeed if tonsillitis is our biggest problem then I am the luckiest mother around. But, still, tired. Hence the lack of posting. I’ll be back as soon as I can.

  1. Oh dear… I hope things improve for EVERYONE real soon!

  2. Can you imagine her party antics as a teenager? Perish the thought!!!
Hope you are all feeling better soon.
    Andi :-)

  3. Good luck with it all – I had two with tonsilitis and it really is not much fun!!! Now that they have been removed they are as good as gold!!!

  4. Poor baby, I hope its over real soon and you all get some serious sleep!

  5. Ohhh, poor bunny!

I mean, of course, Emmeline, but if you need a little sympathy you can be a bunny, too. It sounds really rough!

  6. Noah just had his removed after his first four years being filled with constant sore throats and high temps (which is why he isn’t at preschool currently). Hope she is on the mend.

  7. Hmmm…poor little love. Alfie just had his tonsils and adenoids out – not pleasant so hope you don’t have to go doen that route!

  8. Take care of yourself and the wee one! And keep that sense of humour… it will serve your growing family well over the years. The fact that you managed to keep it despite exhaustion and a little one with a raging flu – my hat’s off to you!

  9. Thinking of you & Miss E. Hopefully summer will be a very pleasant season for you, with healthy, happy & uninjured children. And most importantly no doctors.

  10. While that is a very funny post (and let’s not hope a promise of things to come in 15 odd years!), you must be feeling awful. And yes you are right about being just like other mums with sick kids and still being lucky, etc, etc. But that is the big picture. Which can be hard to see when the little picture is so hard. Hang in there.

  11. I’m so glad you have been able to keep your sense of humor through all of this. I hope everyone in your family is back to normal soon!

  12. oh no!!!!!!!!!!! I love your post tbough!!!!!! I must say I lost a month this year when the twins had chicken pox 2 weeks apart and finn had a middle ear infection and projectile vomiting everywhere! no playgroup, no outings, lots of cleaning and washing!!!

    love all your fabric posts!!!!!!!!

    Corrie:)

  13. I hope everything turns bright and shiny soon.

  14. at least there’s a beautiful quilt to be snuggled in!
