Sunday Stash #16

Today you get to see lots of Munki Munki goodness. If you don’t know about Munki Munki, then clearly you have been under a rock. And I suspect you are wealthier for your ignorance.

Munki Munki is a US clothing label that makes pyjamas and children’s clothes. Heather Ross, she of the goldfish and gnomes fame, was a designer for Munki Munki before she branched out into designing her own fabrics for general use. As I mentioned on that earlier post, there are legal issues surrounding Heather’s ability to release future fabric designs, and as a result, her existing fabrics are hot. Very hot.

My lovely rock-dwellers, you will be shocked to hear that all over the world, women are cutting up their pyjamas (yes, you read that right) to use these marvellous fabrics. Actually, I lie. They are cutting them up to swap them and hoard them. Very few, I imagine, are actually using them. Brand new PJs, by the way. Relax.

And since I am the first one to jump on any bandwagon if it looks like it’s going to be a fun ride, I have been right there with them.

You’ve already seen my big stashes of Munki Munki fabric here. Now you get to see some of the small, yet marvellous, little pieces. I have received all of these via swaps from the US.

First up are the cotton poplin ones:

‘Coke Travelers’ – one of my favourites!

‘Martians’

“Yoga Thoughts”

‘Gifts’

‘Vans’

‘Coffee’

‘Brides’

‘Pink Gnomes’

‘Calypso’

‘Cats’ and ‘Tennis’

And whilst Helen might get another mention with those cats, look who pops up here!

That’s right!

These ones are snippets from some used kid’s clothes:

And the flannel prints:

‘Christmas Tree’ – oh how I love this one! See the girl on the right falling in love with a tree? That’s me at the Xmas Tree farm. Without the coat, though, because it’s always as hot as hell here.

‘Ice Skaters’

‘Ski Trip’

‘Green Gnomes’ and ‘Kitty’

Then there is the canvas ‘Pencils’:

‘Paste’ on corduroy:

And ‘Strawberries” on voile. I have a complete set of these PJs!

There you go, my lovelies. Lots of Munki madness. Hope you enjoyed my little Sunday slide-show!

  1. Oh Sheridan, you have the most ASTOUNDING stash I know. Some of my friends think that my stash is a little extensive – ha! Little do they know of the goodness that can be found in Sheridan’s stash. Absolutely gorgeous fabrics. I think I like the Christmas Tree farm one the best, but they’re all so delicately lovely. Where do you store all your stash? Or are your fabrics all smallish pieces (mostly fat quarters or half yards) so you can fit them all in? I am very green with envy.

  2. Thanks Lara! {I think?} Just to clarify, these pieces are very small. Most are about 10″ x 10″, some smaller, some bigger. So the stash isn’t perhaps as vast as you might imagine, but these little pieces do pack a punch for their size!

I’m having a clear out of the sewing room at the moment, but when it’s finished, I’ll show you how I store everything.

  3. What a wonderful selection!!
    Andi :-)

  4. What a great collection. Do you have plans to keep it for Emmeline (or Henry) or are you going to use it for something specific in the future?

  5. Now why didn’t I find any pjs with those sort of prints when I was looking for them yesterday?? Really, what grown woman wants sesame street pjs or winnie the pooh or any other naff kids thing!

  6. Are you trying to kill us! Or perhaps stimulate the economy further through crazy buying?! I already have a few ebay packages on their way to me in my quest for more of Heather’s lovelies. What a wonderful collection you have! I am poised to start CUTTING several of mine for a wonderful quilt I have planned. I may need a stiff drink or two….

  7. Those are all so cute. I love the aliens and the vans.

  8. OMG that is just cruel, showing all those gorgeous pieces.

  9. You have a great collection! What are you planning to do with them?
I have been cutting my HR up into 2″ to 5″ squares to make a quilt someday…hopefully after finding some munki munki! So far no luck with any winning Ebay bids and the budget prohibits $85 pajama purchases…The great thing about the Munki designs are they are so reminiscent of growing up and the simple things in life!

  10. Glad to see you are doing your bit to help the economy! If you didn’t buy any more fabric how long do you think it’d take you to run out?!

  11. OMG my mouth is hanging open! I’ve never even seen 90% of these before! I love kitties and coffee and gifts is SO clever.
