New Pet
July 17, 2008 at 12:10 pm | In General Sewing | 6 CommentsWhilst I love the idea of a pet, it doesn’t really suit our family. Henry’s dermatologist gave the big thumbs down to cats and dogs, and we do like to go away as often as possible; which, to me, adds up to not enough of a commitment to take care of an animal.
So when Henry fell in love with a birdcage in a shop on Monday, I thought the least I could do was make something to go in it.
He even helped me choose the fabrics.

I am hoping he will tire of it soon, and it can go in the baby’s room. It will look so pretty against the blue wall. With a ‘Swell’ birdie, perhaps…
Thanks so much to Spool for the bird pattern. How pretty is their bird mobile?

This is beautiful. So much better than an empty cage.

I absolutely love birds and after looking up the pattern I imediatly printed it off and cut out my new bird. However simple it looks to us retarded crafters it was not simple at all! My son was very adamant it was a lizard. I’m planning on trying again… in any case it is adorable. Thanks for the link!
I hope you don’t mind I am now a loyal reader and follow all your projects closely. You’re very talented. I love the mini quilts. I once attempted a nine patch mini quilt with 1/4″ squares. Very difficult and time consuming. My niece loves it though so it payed off. Thanks again!

Love this idea! Thinking it would go nice in my bird-themed guest bedroom!
