Gumdrop Pillow

Back to our scheduled programming here, folks.

Here’s a finished project that I have been using for a while now. It’s an Amy Butler Gumdrop Pillow. Although pillow is not quite the word I would use. Try “large ottoman” and then we’ll be thinking along the same lines.

I cut out the fabric ages ago, but I struggled with fitting in all the pieces as per the instructions, which made me a bit cranky because it was Amy Butler fabric too, so how hard can it be? So I cut them out and then ignored them for a few months in a sulky mood. Like this:

Ultimately, it was so quick to sew together, and very easy. I love this fabric, and thought it would complement the red rumpus room nicely. Make sure you love your fabric if you make this. There is a lot of pillow to look at.

I used 2.5 kgs of Hobbyfill, but could really do with more. I will probably unpick it soon and add another kilo or so.

It’s a great, easy project that adds a practical item to your home. I use it every night to finally put my feet up and I wish I hadn’t been a sulky git for so long.

  1. The pillow looks great. You might find that you will be re stuffing it for the rest of its life as it keeps getting compacted!
    BTW. The photos are awesome.

  2. I’ve been wanting to do one of these and we always fight for the ottoman…might be time.
